Purpose: For relief of occasional constipation and bowel cleansing before rectal examinations.
Professional use indications: For use as part of a bowel cleansing regimen in preparing the patient for surgery or for preparing the colon for x-ray endoscopic examination.
Method of action: This is a saline laxative, which promotes evacuation of the bowel by increasing water in the intestines.
Effectiveness: Usually produces evacuation with 2 to 15 minutes. Effectively relieves constipation and cleanses lower bowel.
Dosage: Adults and children 12 years and older: one bottle (130mL) no more than once daily, or as directed by physician. Children: 14kg - 30mL, 27kg - 60mL, 40kg - 90mL. Children under 2 years: consult a physician.
Medicinal Ingredients: Each 118mL (delivered dose) contains: 19g monobasic sodium phosphate and 7g dibasic sodium phosphate. Sodium content 4.4g per delivered dose.
Non-Medicinal Ingredients (alphabetical order): benzalkonium chloride, disodium EDTA, water.
WARNING: Do not use laxative products when nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain is present unless directed by a physician. If you notice a sudden change in bowel habits that persist over a period of two weeks, consult a physician before using a laxative. Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of a laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a physician. Laxative products should not be used longer than one week unless directed by a physician. If after the enema solution is administered, there is no return of liquid, contact a physician immediately as dehydration may occur. As with any drug, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product. Keep this and all drugs out of reach of children. In case of accidental ingestion or overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a poison control centre immediately.
Professional use warnings: Do not use in patients with megacolon, as hypernatremic dehydration may occur. Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function.
