Bismuth Subsalicylate Chewable Tablets

Directions: Chew before swallowing or dissolve in mouth.

Dosage: Adults: 2 tablets. Children 10-14 years: 1 tablet. Children 3-9 years: Use Pepto-Bismol liquid. For children under 3 years, consult a physician. Repeat above dosage every 1/2 hour as needed to a maximum of 8 doses in a 24 hours period. Do not exceed 8 doses in 24 hours. Drink plenty of clear fluids to help prevent dehydration, which may accompany diarrhea. Do not take continuously for more than 2 days for diarrhea and more than 14 days for upset stomach except under the advice and supervision of a doctor.

Medicinal Ingredient: 262mg Bismuth Subsalicylate, 350mg calcium carbonate per tablet.

Non-Medicinal Ingredients: Adipic acid, flavour, magnesium stearate, mannitol, PVP, red 27 lake/phloxine sur substrat d'aluminum, red 40 lake/rouge allura ac sur substrat d'aluminum, sodium saccharin, talc.

Warning: Children and teenagers who have or are recovering from chicken pox or flu should not use this medicine to treat vomiting or nausea. If vomiting or nausea is present, consult a doctor because this could be an early sign of Reye Syndrome, a rare but serious illness. Do not take this product  if you are allergic to salicylates including Acetylsalicylic Acid (ASA) or taking other salicylate products. 
Do not use if you have an ulcer, a bleeding problem, bloody or black stool.
Ask a doctor before use if you have a fever, mucus in the stool, when taking tetracycline antibiotics, if taking medicines for anticoagulation (thinning of the blood), diabetes, gout or arthritis, if pregnant or nursing. May cause temporary but harmless darkening of tongue or stool. If symptoms of upset stomach worsen, recur or persist for more than two weeks, consult a physician. Stop use and ask a doctor if: ringing in the ears or loss of hearing occurs, if diarrhea is accompanied by a high fever, worsen or continues for more than 2 days. In case of accidental overdose, contact a physician or poison control centre immediately, even if there are no symptoms.
