Purpose: For relief of occasional constipation and bowel cleansing before rectal examinations.
PROFESSIONAL USE INDICATIONS: Fore use as part of a bowel cleansing regimen in preparing the patient for surgery or in preparing the colon for x-ray endoscopic examination.
FOR RECTAL USE ONLY.
DOSAGE: Adults and children 12 years and older: one bottle (130mL) no more than once daily, or as directed by a physician. Children: 14kg - 30mL, 27kg - 60mL, 40kg - 90 mL.
Children under 2 years: Consult a physician.
METHOD OF ACTION: This is a saline laxative, which promotes evacuation within 2-15 minutes. Effectively relieves constipation and cleanses lower bowel.
MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS:Each 118mL (delivered dose) contains:
Monobasic Sodium Phosphate....... 19g
Dibasic Sodium Phosphate............. 7g
Sodium content 4.4g per delivered dose.
NON-MEDICINAL INGREDIENTS (in alphabetical order):
Benzalkonium chloride, disodium EDTA, water.
STORE BETWEEN 15°C and 30°C.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE: Caution: Remove green protective shield before inserting. To do so, hold bottle upright, grasping bottle cap with fingers. Grasp protective shield with other hand, pull gently to remove. The preferred positions are lying on left side with knees flexed or in the knee-chest position. Self administration may be carried out with the person lying on a towel on the bathroom floor or in the bathtub. Discard bottle after use.
WARNING: Do not use laxative products when nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain is present unless directed by a physician. If you notice a sudden change in bowel habits that persists over a period of two weeks, consult a physician before using a laxative. Rectal bleeding or failure to have a bowel movement after use of laxative may indicate a serious condition. Discontinue use and consult a physician. Laxative products should not be used longer than one week unless directed by a physician. Do not use this if you are on a low-salt diet or if you have kidney disease unless directed by a physician. If after the enema solution is administered, there is no return of liquid, contact a physician immediately as dehydration may occur. As with any drug, if you are pregnant or nursing a baby, seek the advice of a health professional before using this product. KEEP THIS AND ALL DRUGS OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. In case of accidental ingestion or overdose, seek professional assistance or contact a Poison Control Centre immediately.
PROFESSIONAL USE WARNINGS: Do not use in patients with megacolon, as hypernatremic dehydration may occur. Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function.
